Install µswsusp:

sudo apt-get install uswsusp

Test it:

sudo s2disk        ## CAUTION: make sure data is saved for this test!

Download these files:

• hal-system-power-hibernate-linux
• hal-system-power-suspend-linux

and put them in /usr/lib/hal/scripts/linux:

sudo cp hal-system-* /usr/lib/hal/scripts/linux/
sudo chmod 755 /usr/lib/hal/scripts/linux/*

You can run

s2disk
s2ram

to make a quick test of hibernation and suspend.
